Know Your Vehicle Air Intake System Better

Air Intake System Is one of the most important part of your automobile engine. Its function is to pump air in the engine to boost up its power. An ideal intake system should increase the velocity of the air until it travels to combustion chamber. A modern car generally has three parts in air intake system which is air filter, mass flow sensor, throttle body. Some modern do use highly advanced intake system to optimally distribute the air and fuel to each cylinder. Many cars today now use a silencer for intake system to minimize the noise entering the cabin. Silencers impede the air flow and create turbulence which reduces power.

There are so many things that a racer look for increasing the speed of the car. So many parts affect the speed of the car like horse power. Same way air intake system helps engine breath easily and functions better and faster. It helps engine in giving oxygen that helps it to perform better as compared to other car racer. As I discuss with you it has three parts Air filter, Mass flow sensor, throttle body.

Air Filter

Air filter is an important part of the air intake system. It is air filter with which help engine breaths. It is generally a plastic or metal box. Every engine requires proper mix of air and fuel to run it. Job of the air filter is to prevent dust and other particles to go into the engine and giving fresh air to engine.

Mass Flow Sensor

Mass flow sensor is used to see the mass air entering into the system. First it goes to flow sensor then it goes to throttle body. There are two types of Mass flow sensor. One is vane meter and other is hot wire. In vane type there is flap which is pushed by the incoming air. More the air, more it pushes. Hot wire uses a series of wire that provide electricity to the circuit. It increase or decrease the temperature with current flow.

Throttle Body

Throttle Body controls the flow of air into the engine combustion chamber. It works with a plate that keeps rotating. When you depress the accelerator, plate open and allow air into the engine and when you press the accelerator then it stop air into chamber.

With a good air intake system you can increase your horse power and improve your fuel economy.
