Mahindra & Mahindra and Reva are manufacturing new technologies for the Indian auto manufacturer's different vehicles.

From the sources it was revealed that, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles (MERV), the largest electric car manufacturers are working to develop varied techniques for Mahindra & Mahindra's other vehicles such as the SUV Scorpio, the flagship model of the company, two wheelers and also for the light trucks.

Mahindra & Mahindra India, the largest utility automobile manufacturers, acquired 55.2 per cent stakes in Reva, this year in May. The Indian Utility vehicle maker has already assessed the forerunner Gio, Reva's commercial electric car which comes with electric- driving technique. The company is already selling two of its electric vehicles, Maxximo, the mini truck and Bijlee, the three wheeler.

R Chandramouli, the chief of operations in MERV, revealed that, it is working on manufacturing electric charge technology with Mahindra & Mahindra which can be fitted in all small and bigger cars or other vehicles. He also expressed his views on the future of electric vehicle that in the coming years the electric technologies will play a major role in the auto industry. Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles has a capacity of producing 6,000 auto mobiles in its Bangalore manufacturing facility every year.

Mahindra & Mahindra India in terms of extending itself in the global auto market will soon acquire Ssangyong Motors, the Korean company. With the acquisition of the foreign brand, Mahindra & Mahindra will be the second company to join in the league of Indian auto brands taking over foreign auto brands such as Tata Motors' acquisition of JLR.

After the deal between M&M and Ssangyong Motors is sealed which is likely to happen in early in next year, Mahindra &Mahindra will further start investing in the US market.

Chandramouli said with confidence, that in next five years the company hopes to make a mark with its vehicles across globe. He also said that, the company has plans to bring templates in the US markets. The company is already running pilot operations which will create new versions of electric automobiles. The company wishes to put these new models in Indian and US auto markets.

The company is currently focused on two cities only--Bangalore and London, in which more than 1,000 Reva are running on roads. As per the stats available, the company has sold as many as 3,700 EV cars since the launch in 2001 of the company's first car.
